Test and tag is a term used to ensure that appliances comply with Australia’s WHS and electrical safety regulations. The Test and Tag begins with a visual inspection completed by a qualified electrician where each appliance is inspected for damage to the connection, guards, covers, flex and plug.

When the electrician has deemed the product is safe to test, he will then begin his electrical inspection where he tests the appliances earthing, polarity and insulation.

The appliances that are used the most (such as power tools and kettles) are exposed to wear and tear and can become a hazard. These appliances must be tagged and tested on a regular basis to ensure their safety.
